This is one of the few tornadoes I have actually seen...I was standing on my 2nd story apartment balcony looking east in the Lyndhurst West complex (my apartment was at the "T" where Arbours Dr and Lyndhurst Dr meet, just 1 block west of route 45...in other words, i had an unobstructed view of the open fields to the east as I looked down Arbours Dr...), but it was dark out so I couldn't really see much. Then, during a flash of lightning I saw the tornado as it was heading northeast towards Urbana. The tornado was probably about 1/2 to 1 mile away at this point. I looked at my neighbor who was also standing on her balcony (we were violating pretty much every rule in the "tornado safety" manual...) and said "Did you just see that?". She did, and within a few seconds the tornado siren started going off. The tornado eventually entered Urbana and did a good amount of damage.
