This tornado cut a southerly path nearly directly through downtown Mansfield. The tornado began around 1 pm on Sunday, August 2. It touched down on County street and took a route through downtown Mansfield. The tornado crossed Route 106, down Rumford avenue, past Villa street, past Fulton street, across West street, into the Horace and Union street area. It crossed South Main street and dissipated on Fruit street near the Mansfield Municipal Airport. (The path of the storm on the map is incorrect.)

The town recorded an inch of rain in 15 minutes. Nearly 500 homes were without power for 6-8 hours. There was massive tree damage in the downtown area, including in historic areas.
